Bramhacharini, the form of Sati before she wed Lord Shiva is
worshipped on the second day of Navratri.Virgin goddesses have existed since
time immemorial in the various spiritual traditions in the world. Vesta is the
virgin goddess of the hearth, home, and family in Roman religion. Vesta's
presence is symbolized by the sacred fire that burned at her hearth and
temples. Virgin goddesses in other spiritual traditions include Anat, Artemis,
Astraea (mythology), Athena, Bona Dea and Britomartis.
