At Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple, all are welcomed to the world's largest free kitchen where a a lakh (hundred thousand) people are fed with great love on an average every single day. This kitchen at the Harmandir Sahib, which is also addressed as the Darbar Sahib, or the Golden Temple, in Amritsar, India never stops, pauses or sleeps.

The Harmandir Sahib's four entrances welcome people of all castes, genders and religions to ponder on the oneness of Godhood and the brotherhood of all human beings. Here, 12,00 kg of wheat is kneaded into aata, and 2.5 lakh rotis are made every day along with dal. 40,000 thalis are washed and reused continuously.

Shri Radhe Maa - What is heaven? Where is hell?

What, asked the brave general, is heaven and hell?

You ask very big questions for a person who looks like a monkey, said the wise one.

"How dare you!" thundered the general as he drew his sword.

That, smiled the wise one, is hell.

""Oh!" said the general, understanding immediately. "I am so sorry master,"

"That", said the Master, "is heaven."

Heaven and hell are within. Anger is hell. Forgiveness is heaven

Maharaj Janak and his horrible dream - Shri Radhe Maa

Maharaj Janaka

Maharaj Janak was weeping.

His kingdom snatched, his wife taken away, his enemies in hot pursuit, the king unable to control hunger pangs stretched his hands to pick the dried roti on the dusty road. A dog appeared from nowhere and picked up the roti and ran.

Suddenly King Janak was awake and found his queen by his side and discovered that all was well. Was I dreaming then? Am I dreaming now? Are both dreams? What is reality? What is dream?

King Janaka invited wise men from all corners of the earth to explain the difference between dream and reality. He was afraid that he would wake up from this life of a king and discover that this too had been a dream.

"That you were defeated and homless was a dream. That you are a king is the reality," said one.

"Both states are real while you are experiencing them," said another wise man.

"That dream was real. That you are a king is an illusion," said a third wise man.

Then spoke Ashtawakra, the one whose body was deformed in eight places.

"O king neither are real because how can that which is true be subject to change be true?"

"What is truth then?" asked Janaka.

The witness, the sakshi, who was persent in both the states. The Self that watches all. That alone is real O Janaka. Everything except the Self is subject to change and is therefore unreal o king.

Jai Maa Jwala Ji of Kangra

Jwala Devi

The ancient Jwala Maa temple marks the spot that received Mata Sati's tongue as Lord Shiva danced around the world holding her body in her hands. Maa is represented here in the form of a jyoti that burns on its own out of the ground. The flame is considered to be a sakshat roop of Devi. Every year a Navratra fair is held in July/August months to honor the goddess.

Mata Jwala is the fire of penance and bhakti in which our lower natures are burnt to ashes and we are restored to our original form. Jawala ji grants us the energy to embark on spiritual quests and grants us her grace that makes all four purushartas possible - dharma, artha, kama and moksha.

May Mata Jwala Ji of Kangra, the empress of the universe, bless all her devotees with the gifts of compassion and love for all sentient beings! Jwala Ji ki Jai! Jai Mata Di!

A Kali temple where rats are honored as divine

Karni Mata

Life is sacred and it is man in his ego who feels that he is the centre of the universe. While the shastras describe that it is rare for a soul to take human birth and that one should honor such a birth by living according to the dictates of dharma, and live in such a way that no being on earth has any reason to fear.

At the Karni Mata Temple of Bikaner, rats are honored. They are fed, given milk and allowed to roam free. Thousands of devotees come to the temple and even bring children along. The rats do not mind being touched, held or petted. The rats are not harmed in any manner.

May Mata Karni Kalika in her aspect as the mother of all beings bless all beings with love, compassion and tolerance. Sri Karni Mata ki Jai! Jai Mata Di!

Soldiers who attack with "Jai Maha Kali" on their lips

These warriors from the Himalayas battled with the British in the 19th century and were such fearsome fighters that after the war was over, the British Army decided that they wanted these men on their side. Though India is now independent, Britain continues to recruit these soldiers who have a reputation for being deadly across the world directly from Nepal.

Yes, we are talking about the Hindu and Buddhist Gorkhas of Nepal and India who enter battle with the cry "Jai Maha Kali! Aayo Gorkhali (Glory to Maha Kali! The Gorkhali are here!) "! These men continue to fight in the British ranks and are at the front on most war fronts including Afghanistan where they fought the Taliban.

These brave warriors have also served India with distinction in all its wars including the Kargil war. Three warriors from Gurkha battalions have been awarded India's highest gallantry award Param Vira Chakra.

May Maha Kali bless the fierce knives of these fearless soldiers! Jai Maha Kal! Jai Pashupatinath!

Jai Murugan Swami Malaysia Waale - Shri Radhe Maa

Murugan Swami

Batu Caves, a limestone hill that has a several caves and cave temples near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the most popular Hindu shrine of Malaysia that is home to Lord Murugan Swami, the son of Lord Shiva.

Every year during the Tamil Hindu festival of Thaipusam in January-February lakhs of devotees climb up the hill with Kavadis on their backs and make the journey uphill for a darshan of the Lord.

The Lord also has several Chinese devotees who have been making the journey for several decades now!

The Batu Cave temple was built in 1890 by Indian trader K. Thamboosamy Pillai who was inspired by the cave that has a shape of Lord Swaminat Kartikeya's spear.
