Panini was the most notable Sanskrit grammarian of all time. He was from Pushkalavati, Gandhara, that is presently the Charsadda region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan that is home to the ancient people who are now known as Pathans. A Panini temple was built recently in Kashi. Soil from the great grammarian’s birthplace was brought for the temple.
