Who are you? An answer by Adi Shankara, an avatar of Shiva

Shiv Shakti
Adi Shankara, an avatar of Lord Shiva himself, had the good fortune to meet his guru Swami Govindapada Acharya in a kutiya in Badrinath in the Himalayas. He fell at the teacher's feet and asked him to initiate him into Sanyasa. The teacher asked him to introduce himself.

Shankara replied, "O revered one! I am not fire, air earth, or water. I am the immortal self that is concealed in all names and forms."

The guru pleased with the answer accepted the young boy as a disciple and initiated him into the holy orders of Sanyasa and revealed to him the truths of Adwaita Vedanta, which were taught to him by his guru.

May the teachings of Adi Shankara, the sun among philosophers, drive away the ignorance brought about by maya.
