Swami Lakshman Joo Raina, the great Sanskrit scholar, Shiva bhakta and foremost contemporary exponent of Kashmir Shaivism was a boy, he was often lost in contemplation of Lord Shiva. Once, when his teacher caught him in one of his divine moods, he asked Swami Ji, what exactly he was doing.
"I was lost in the highest," answered Swami.
The teacher had neither time nor the understanding to understand what he was being told. Upset that his student was not paying attention, he caned the little boy 25 times. The next day the teacher fell ill, and remained sick for 25 days.
If one attacks people of God, the karma-phal is instant! The shastras therefore urge us to not criticize teachers of other sects and lineages because truth in its entirety is not contained within any single tradition! We should take what we can and abstain from criticizing others!
Om Namah Shivaya! Swami Lakshaman Joo ki Jai ho!
