Ekvira
Mata Temple in the Karla caves near Lonavala, Maharashtra, marks the
spot where the Pandavas sought refuge during their agyat vaas, when they
were not to reveal their identity. The pandavas had enemies who would
have tried to harm them if their identity had been discovered.
Ekvira Mata,
who is an incarnation of Mahashakti Renuka Devi, appeared befored the
Pandavas and asked them to built a temple for her in a single night. The
Pandavas put all their might and did so. Pleased, the Devi blessed them
with a boon - no enemy would discover them during their agyaatvaas.
Thus did the Mata who is the protector of the Koli fishermen in Maharashtra protect the Pandava brothers!
