The significance of Sankashti
Chaturthi
According to the Hindu calendar, every lunar month has two
chaturthi tithis. One is after the full moon which falls during Krishna Paksha
which is also known as Sakashti Chaturthi. The second Chaturthi falls on the
new moon day during the Shukla Paksha which is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi.
If Sankashti Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday, it is celebrated
as Angarki Chaturthi. Angarki Chaturthi is considered to be very auspicious and
holy according to the Hindu mythology. Fasts are also observed on Sankashti
Chaturthi mostly in the northern and western regions of India.
