गणेश जी के जन्म की कथा । | Ganesh Janam Katha |

शास्त्रों के अनुसार भादों मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि को श्री गणेश का धरती पर अवतरण हुआ था। श्री गणेश का जन्म माता पार्वती के उदर से नहीं हुआ था बल्कि माता पार्वती ने अपनी शक्ति से उनका निर्माण किया था। इससे सम्बंधित एक कथा प्रचलित है जो इस प्रकार है –

कथा के अनुसार एक बार शिवजी के गण नंदी ने माता पार्वती की आज्ञा पालन में गलती कर दी। जिससे रुष्ट होकर माता पार्वती ने स्वयं एक बालक के निर्माण का निश्चय किया। माता पार्वती ने अपने शरीर के मैल और उबटन से एक पिंड का निर्माण किया और अपनी शक्ति से उसमे प्राण डाल दिए। माता पार्वती ने उससे कहा की तुम मेरे पुत्र हो, तुम्हारा नाम गणेश है। तुम्हें सिर्फ मेरी ही आज्ञा का पालन करना है और किसी की भी नहीं। अब मैं स्नान करने अंदर जा रही हूँ। ध्यान रहे जब तक मैं स्नान करके वापस नहीं आऊं कोई भवन के अंदर नहीं आ पाए।

पुत्र गणेश को ऐसी आज्ञा देकर माता पार्वती स्नान करने भवन के अंदर चली गई और पुत्र गणेश वही भवन की पहरेदारी के लिए रह गए। कुछ समय पश्चात वहां भगवान शंकर आए और पार्वती के भवन में जाने लगे। यह देखकर उस बालक ने विनयपूर्वक उन्हें रोका और कहा आप अंदर नहीं जा सकते। यह सुनकर भगवान शिव क्रोधित हुए। पहले तो उन्होंने बालक को समझाया पर जब बालक गणेश नहीं माने तो उन्होंने नंदी और अपने गणों को बालक को वहाँ से हटाने को कहा। पर बालक गणेश ने सबको परास्त कर दिया। इससे क्रोधित हो भगवान शिव ने हठी बालक का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया और भवन के भीतर चले गए।

भगवान शिव को क्रोधित देखकर माता पार्वती ने उनसे इसका कारण पूछा। तब भगवान शिव ने उन्हें सारा वृतांत कह सुनाया।यह सुन देवी पार्वती क्रोधित हो विलाप करने लगीं। उनकी क्रोधाग्नि से सृष्टि में हाहाकार मच गया। तब सभी देवताओं ने मिलकर उनकी स्तुति की और बालक को पुनर्जीवित करने के लिए कहा। तब पार्वती को प्रसन्न करने के लिए भगवान शिव ने एक हाथी (गज) के बच्चे का सिर काट कर बालक के धड़ से जोड़ दिया।

कहते तो यह भी हैं कि भगवान शंकर के कहने पर विष्णु जी एक हाथी (गज) का सिर काट कर लाए थे और वह सिर उन्होंने उस बालक के धड़ पर रख कर उसे जीवित किया था। भगवान शंकर व अन्य देवताओं ने उस गजमुख बालक को अनेक आशीर्वाद दिए। देवताओं ने गणेश, गणपति, विनायक, विघ्नहरता, प्रथम पूज्य आदि कई नामों से उस बालक की स्तुति की। इस प्रकार भगवान गणेश का प्राकट्य हुआ।

श्रीगणेश ने दिया राजा वरेण्य को गीता का ज्ञान

श्रीगणेश गीता 

|| ऊँ नम: शिवाय || ऊँ गं गणपतये नम: ||

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कुरुक्षेत्र के मैदान में गीता उपदेश दिया था, यह बात तो सब जानते हैं लेकिन विघ्न विनाशक गणपति ने भी गीता का उपदेश दिया था, ये कम लोगों को पता है।

श्रीकृष्ण गीता और गणेश गीता में लगभग सारे विषय समान हैं। बस दोनों में उपदेश देने की मन: स्थिति में अंतर है। भगवत गीता का उपदेश कुरुक्षेत्र के मैदान में, मोह और अपना कर्तव्य भूल चुके अर्जुन को दिया गया था। लेकिन गणेश गीता में विघ्नविनाशक गणपति, यह उपदेश युद्ध के बाद , राजा वरेण्य को देते हैं। दोनों ही गीता में गीता सुनने वाले श्रोताओं अर्जुन और राजा वरेण्य की स्थिति और परिस्थिति में अंतर है।

भगवत गीता के पहले अध्याय अर्जुन विषाद योग से यह बात स्पष्ट होती है कि अर्जुन मोह के कारण मूढ़ावस्था में चले गये थे। लेकिन राजा वरेण्य मुमुक्षु स्थिति में थे। वह अपने धर्म और कर्तव्य को जानते थे।

श्रीगणेश गीता की पृष्ठ भूमि:—

देवराज इंद्र समेत सारे देवी देवता, सिंदूरा दैत्य के अत्याचार से परेशान थे। जब ब्रह्मा जी से सिंदूरा से मुक्ति का उपाय पूछा गया तो उन्होने गणपति के पास जाने को कहा। सभी देवताओं ने गणपति से प्रार्थना की कि वह दैत्य सिंदूरा के अत्याचार से मुक्ति दिलायें। देवताओं और ऋषियों की आराधना से भगवान गणेश प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने मां जगदंबा के घर गजानन रुप में अवतार लिया। इधर राजा वरेण्य की पत्नी पुष्पिका के घर भी एक बालक ने जन्म लिया। लेकिन प्रसव की पीड़ा से रानी मूर्छित हो गईं और उनके पुत्र को राक्षसी उठा ले गई। ठीक इसी समय भगवान शिव के गणों ने गजानन को रानी पुष्पिका के पास पहुंचा दिया। क्योंकि गणपति भगवान ने कभी राजा वरेण्य की भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर उन्हें वरदान दिया था कि वह उनके यहां पुत्र रूप में जन्म लेंगे।

लेकिन जब रानी पुष्पिका की मूर्छा टूटी तो वो चतुर्भुज गजमुख गणपति के इस रूप को देखकर डर गईं। राजा वरेण्य के पास यह सूचना पहुंचाई गई कि ऐसा बालक पैदा होना राज्य के लिये अशुभ होगा। बस राजा वरेण्य ने उस बालक यानि गणपति को जंगल में छोड़ दिया। जंगल में इस शिशु के शरीर पर मिले शुभ लक्षणों को देखकर महर्षि पराशर उस बालक को आश्रम लाये।

यहीं पर पत्नी वत्सला और पराशर ऋषि ने गणपति का पालन पोषण किया। बाद में राजा वरेण्य को यह पता चला कि जिस बालक को उन्होने जंगल में छोड़ा था, वह कोई और नहीं बल्कि गणपति हैं।

अपनी इसी गलती से हुए पश्चाताप के कारण वह भगवान गणपति से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि मैं अज्ञान के कारण आपके स्वरूप को पहचान नहीं सका इसलिये मुझे क्षमा करें। करुणामूर्ति गजानन पिता वरेण्य की प्रार्थना सुनकर बहुत प्रसन्न हुये और उन्होंने राजा को कृपापूर्वक अपने पूर्वजन्म के वरदान का स्मरण कराया|

भगवान् गजानन पिता वरेण्य से अपने स्वधाम-यात्रा की आज्ञा माँगी| स्वधाम-गमन की बात सुनकर राजा वरेण्य व्याकुल हो उठे अश्रुपूर्ण नेत्र और अत्यंत दीनता से प्रार्थना करते हुए बोले- ‘कृपामय! मेरा अज्ञान दूरकर मुझे मुक्ति का मार्ग प्रदान करे|’

राजा वरेण्य की दीनता से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान् गजानन ने उन्हें ज्ञानोपदेश प्रदान किया| यही अमृतोपदेश गणेश-गीता के नाम से विख्यात है|

श्री गणेश ने मूषक को सवारी कैसे बनायीं ?

गणेश और सवारी मूषक 

बहुत समय की बात है, एक बहुत ही भयंकर असुरों का राजा था – गजमुख। वह बहुत ही शक्तिशाली बनना और धन चाहता था। वह साथ ही सभी देवी-देवताओं को अपने वश में करना चाहता था इसलिए हमेशा भगवान् शिव से वरदान के लिए तपस्या करता था। शिव जी से वरदान पाने के लिए वह अपना राज्य छोड़ कर जंगल में जा कर रहने लगा और शिवजी से वरदान प्राप्त करने के लिए, बिना पानी पिए भोजन खाए रातदिन तपस्या करने लगा।

कुछ साल बीत गए, शिवजी उसके अपार तप को देखकर प्रभावित हो गए और शिवजी उसके सामने प्रकट हुए। शिवजी नें खुश हो कर उसे दैविक शक्तियाँ प्रदान किया जिससे वह बहुत शक्तिशाली बन गया। सबसे बड़ी ताकत जो शिवजी नें उसे प्रदान किया वह यह था की उसे किसी भी शस्त्र से नहीं मारा जा सकता। असुर गजमुख को अपनी शक्तियों पर गर्व हो गया और वह अपने शक्तियों का दुर्पयोग करने लगा और देवी-देवताओं पर आक्रमण करने लगा।

मात्र शिव, विष्णु, ब्रह्मा और गणेश ही उसके आतंक से बचे हुए थे। गजमुख चाहता था की हर कोई देवता उसकी पूजा करे। सभी देवता शिव, विष्णु और ब्रह्मा जी के शरण में पहुंचे और अपनी जीवन की रक्षा के लिए गुहार करने लगे। यह सब देख कर शिवजी नें गणेश को असुर गजमुख को यह सब करने से रोकने के लिए भेजा।

गणेश जी नें गजमुख के साथ युद्ध किया और असुर गजमुख को बुरी तरह से घायल कर दिया। लेकिन तब भी वह नहीं माना। उस राक्षक नें स्वयं को एक मूषक के रूप में बदल लिया और गणेश जी की और आक्रमण करने के लिए दौड़ा। जैसे ही वह गणेश जी के पास पहुंचा गणेश जी कूद कर उसके ऊपर बैठ गए और गणेश जी ने गजमुख को जीवन भर के मुस में बदल दिया और अपने वाहन के रूप में जीवन भर के लिए रख लिया।

भगवान गणेश को क्यों नहीं चढ़ाते तुलसी ?

धर्म ग्रंथो के अनुसार भगवान गणेश को भगवान  श्री कृष्ण का अवतार बताया गया है और भगवान श्री कृष्ण स्वयं भगवान विष्णु के अवतार है। लेकिन जो तुलसी भगवान विष्णु को अत्यंत प्रिय है, इतनी प्रिय की भगवान विष्णु के ही एक रूप शालिग्राम का विवाह तक तुलसी से होता है वही तुलसी भगवान गणेश को अप्रिय है, इतनी अप्रिय की भगवान गणेश के पूजन में इसका प्रयोग वर्जित है।  पर ऐसा क्यों है इसके सम्बन्ध में एक पौराणिक कथा है

एक बार श्री गणेश गंगा किनारे तप कर रहे थे। इसी कालावधि में धर्मात्मज की नवयौवना कन्या तुलसी ने विवाह की इच्छा लेकर तीर्थ यात्रा पर प्रस्थान किया। देवी तुलसी सभी तीर्थस्थलों का भ्रमण करते हुए गंगा के तट पर पंहुची। गंगा तट पर देवी तुलसी ने युवा तरुण गणेश जी को देखा जो तपस्या में विलीन थे। शास्त्रों के अनुसार तपस्या में विलीन गणेश जी रत्न जटित सिंहासन पर विराजमान थे। उनके समस्त अंगों पर चंदन लगा हुआ था। उनके गले में पारिजात पुष्पों के साथ स्वर्ण-मणि रत्नों के अनेक हार पड़े थे। उनके कमर में अत्यन्त कोमल रेशम का पीताम्बर लिपटा हुआ था।

तुलसी श्री गणेश के रुप पर मोहित हो गई और उनके मन में गणेश से विवाह करने की इच्छा जाग्रत हुई। तुलसी ने विवाह की इच्छा से उनका ध्यान भंग किया। तब भगवान श्री गणेश ने तुलसी द्वारा तप भंग करने को अशुभ बताया और तुलसी की मंशा जानकर स्वयं को ब्रह्मचारी बताकर उसके विवाह प्रस्ताव को नकार दिया।

श्री गणेश द्वारा अपने विवाह प्रस्ताव को अस्वीकार कर देने से देवी तुलसी बहुत दुखी हुई और आवेश में आकर उन्होंने श्री गणेश के दो विवाह होने का शाप दे दिया। इस पर श्री गणेश ने भी तुलसी को शाप दे दिया कि तुम्हारा विवाह एक असुर से होगा। एक राक्षस की पत्नी होने का शाप सुनकर तुलसी ने श्री गणेश से माफी मांगी। तब श्री गणेश ने तुलसी से कहा कि तुम्हारा विवाह शंखचूर्ण राक्षस से होगा। किंतु फिर तुम भगवान विष्णु और श्रीकृष्ण को प्रिय होने के साथ ही कलयुग में जगत के लिए जीवन और मोक्ष देने वाली होगी। पर मेरी पूजा में तुलसी चढ़ाना शुभ नहीं माना जाएगा।

तब से ही भगवान श्री गणेश जी की पूजा में तुलसी वर्जित मानी जाती है।

Tulsi, the daughter of Dharmaraja, the God of righteousness, was roaming about in the world in ecstatic devotion to Lord Narayana, in her youthful days and came upon the banks of the sacred river Ganga. There she wandered into a serene ashram full of fragrant flowers and plants swaying in cool breeze. She saw Lord Ganesha, who was in the prime of his youth, beautifully dressed in yellow silks, and lost in deep contemplation on Lord Krishna.

Captivated by the beauty of Lord Ganesha, she entreated him to marry her. Lord Ganesha turned down the proposal, saying that he was least interested in married life. Tulsi became angry and cursed Him saying : "You shall surely marry !", whereupon He also pronounced a countercurse on her : "You too shall get married, but to an Asura, and thereafter you shall be cursed to be born as a plant by the wise men".

Realising her mistake, Tulsi pleaded for mercy, and extolled Lord Ganesha with divine hymns. Lord Ganesha relented and said: "Though you shall be born as a plant, you willinherit the essence of all fragrance. All the gods will be happy with your fragrance, and Lord Hari will be specially glad to receive worship with your leaves. But you shall not be acceptable in the worship offered to me, except on Chathurthi days". So saying, Lord Ganesha left that place and went to Badrikashram.

Ganesha chant that fulfills all wishes

The Ganesha Atharva Sheersha is the oldest known invocation to Lord Ganesha in any Hindu text. Found in the Atharva Veda, it extols the Lord as the ultimate power in the universe whose power creates, sustains and dissolves all known universes. African Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion

 

Several Ghanian Africans embraced the Hindu religion under the guidance of Swami Ghananada Saraswati of Ghana in the 1980s. Swami ji, an African himself, did not find answers given by Christian preachers who were engaged in spreading Christianity among his people.

His search brought him to Rishikesh where he studied the Hindu shastras and decided to become a Sanyasi in the lineage of Swami Shivananda of the Divine Life SOciety. 

Several Ghanian Hindus are second generation Hindus and were born into the faith! 

Let us join our Hindu brothers in Africa in wishing Lord Ganesha a warm farewell! Lord, come early next year! Ganpati  Bappa Morya!

Jai Ho Australia ke Swayambhu Mahaganapati ki!

Swayambhu Mahaganapati

Ayers rock is a single monolithic rock that rises 300 meters above flat land stretching for kilometers in Uluru, Australia. Wikipedia notes that 'Uluru is sacred to the Anangu, the Aboriginal people of the area. The area around the formation is home to a plethora of springs, waterholes, rock caves, and ancient paintings. Uluru is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.'

Anangu prefer that visitors respect their culture by not climbing. More than thirty people have died attempting to climb Uluru.


Mata Nirmala Devi of the Sahaja Yoga foundation identified the Uluru rock as Swayambhu Ganesha and her devotees continue to hold the view.
