Annapurna Devi, is the Goddess of food



she nourishes all living beings and therefore Hindus consider ‘Annam’ (food) as holy.
Worship of food and Annadhana, the offering of food, is highly praised in Hinduism and hence Annapurna is regarded as a popular deity
The other names of  Annapurani are Visalakshi, Visvasakthi, Saraswati, Visvamata, Sristihetukavaradhani, Bhuvaneswari, Tripura, Jaya, Durga, Lakshmi, Annada, Durbhiksahansanaya and destroyer of poverty.
