A place where Shiva went in hiding

The Pandavas wanted to be absolved of the terrible sin of killing their own relatives by seeking Lord Shiva's blessings. Lord Shiva did not want to take the weight of a sin as grave and therefore disappeared from the spot known as Gupt Kashi or hidden Kashi in the Hiamalayas of Uttarakhand.

May Lord Shiva and his consort Devi who are present as Ardhinareshwara in Guptakashi Himalayas bless all devotees with energy, discrimination and power.

A prediction about Shree Siddhivinayak temple, Mumbai

Oral history has it that about a quarter and a century ago Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj, a disciple of Shri Akkalkot Swami Samarth had prophesised that the spot where Siddhivinayak Temple stands would emerge as a centre of Ganesh worship. The first sign foretold by him was the emergence of a Mandaar tree on the spot after 21 years.

Both of Maharaj's predictions came true. The Shree Siddhivinayak temple is the most popular Ganesh temple in Mumbai, which attracts devotees
from all parts of the city and abroad.

May Shree Siddhivinayak bless us with intelligence, discrimination and happiness in all walks of life.

Babulnath Temple

300 years ago, a cowheard called Babul informed Pandurang the landlord who owned land at the location that is today called Malabar Hill that a particular cow would pour the milk at a particular spot till her teats were empty.

Pandurang had the spot digged and discovered a self-formed (swayambhu) Shivling. That Shivling is today worshipped as Babul Nath or the Lord of Babul.

May Babulnath Mahadev bless us all.

How Mumbai got its name

A demon named Mumbarka who was oppressing the residents of present-day Mumbai was punished by the great Shakti. The demon fell on his knees and surrendered to the Goddess and offered everything, including his name to the Goddess. The pleased Goddess asked the demon to mend his ways and gave permission to the demon to build a temple in Mumbai.

The Goddess as the benefactor of the demon Mumbarka came to be known as Mumba Devi, and the city where the temple stands came to be known as Mumbai, which, some say, is a shortened form of 'Mumba Aai' or Mother Mumba.

May Mother Mumba Devi bless us all!

Happy Birthday to Lord Ganesha

Oral tradition holds the Moreshwar Ganpati temple in Moregaon, Pune district, Maharshtra, marks the spot where Lord Vishnu prayed to Ganpati before fighting the demons Madhu and Kaitabh, and killing them.

This is also the spot where Shree Lord Ganesha killed Kamlasur, the daitya who was oppressing devotees. As the lord was seated on the peacock, he came to be known as Mayureshwara or Moreshwar.

Let us join all devotees in wishing Lord Ganesha the refuge of the fallen and protector of the weak a very
Happy Birthday. Happy Maghi Vinayak Jayanti to all devotees.
