Happy Gudhi Padwa

Wish you a very happy Gudi Padva, the festival of many names!

Gudi Padva is Marathi for Chaitra Shukla Pratipada in the Hindu calendar. It marks the start of Vasant Ritu or the season of spring, a time for flowers, fruits and ripening of crops. Hindu Kokanis know Gudi Padva as Samvatsar Padvo, Telegu-speaking Hindus of Andhra pradesh call it Ugadi and the Kashmiri Pandits call Gudi Padva Navreh. The Kannadigas from Karnataka call this auspicious festival Yugadi and the Sindhis call it Cheti Chand.

We wish all Hindus spread across the world a very happy Chaitra Shukla Pratipada! Jai Mata Di!

Gau Mata Kamadhenu Visits this temple every day

The Lord Marundeeswarar Temple houses an ancient all-powerful in swayambhu Shiva linga. This temple is situated in  Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. It is one of the 275 holiest shrines of Shiva devotees in South India. Shaivite saints Appar and Tirugnana Sambandar have written poems in the seventh and eighth century that glorify the lingam.
There are 108 other lingams at the temple and also other five lingams that represent the five elements.

The celestial cow Kamadhenu is believed to wash the lingam with her milk everyday, which is why the Lingam is said have acquired a white color.

Where there is Shiva, Maa Jagadambika is also present. The Goddess is present in the temple as Thirupurasundari and other forms.

May Lord Marundeeshwar Mahadev bless us with the desire for service to his lotus feet!

How Ravana was blessed by Shiv Shanker Lord Baijnath Mahadev

Baba Baijnath Mahadev in Kangra Himachal Pradesh

Baba Baijnath Mahadev in Kangra Himachal Pradesh has been worshiped continuously since the thirteenth century when a two merchants Ahuka nd Manyuka built a grand temple for the Lord. However, evidence exists of even older temples on the spot and it is clear that the Linga was worshiped much before the temple was constructed.

According to the legend, it is believed that during the Treta Yug, Ravana in order to have invincible powers worshiped Lord Shiva in the Kailash. In the same process, to please the almighty he offered his ten heads in the havan kund. Influenced by this extra ordinary deed of the Ravana, the Lord Shiva not only restored his heads but also bestowed him with powers of invincibility and immortality.

On attaining this incomparable boon, Ravana also requested the Lord Shiva to accompany him to Lanka. Shiva consented to the request of Ravana and converted himself into ling. The Lord Shiva asked him to carry the ling and told him that he should not place the ling down on the ground on his way. Ravana stared moving in south direction and reached Baijnath where he felt the need to answer the nature’s call. On seeing a shepherd, Ravana handed over the ling to him and went away to get himself relieved. On finding the ling very heavy, shepherd kept the ling on the ground and the ling got established there and the same is in the form of ardhnarishwar.

In the town of Baijnath, Dussehra festival in which traditionally the effigy of the Ravana is consigned to flames is not celebrated as a mark of respect to the devotion of Ravana towards Lord Shiva. Another interesting thing about the town of Baijnath is that there is no shop of goldsmiths.

Baijnath Mahadev is the guide to all four purusharthas - dharma, artha, kama and moksha. Therefore, whoever, seeks the feet of Lord Baijnath Shiva gets happiness, fame and success in this world and moksha in the hereafter.

May Lord Shiva Baijnath bless all his devotees!

Bolo Bholenath Shri Dhakleshwar Mahadev Ki Jai!

Shivaling

Shree Dhakleshwar Temple was built in the 1885 and was named after Dhakji Dadaji, a businessman, philanthropist and Shiva devotee, who employed his considerable fortune to create the beautiful temple for the Shiva Lingam which is said to be at least over three centuries old. The temple is a short walk from the famous Mahalakshmi temple of Mumbai and is home to idols of Lord Surya, Lord Vishnu and Lord Ganesha in addition to Lord Shiva Dhakleshwar, the presiding deity of the temple.

As the Shiva Linga has been worshipped for over three centuries without break and at one site, it holds particular significance for Shiva devotees in Mumbai who queue before the temple on Shivaratri as well as on other important days dear to lord Shiva. The Lord is is present in the temple along with Mata Parvati.

May Lord Dhakleshwar Bhola Bhandari bless us with peace, love and abundance! Har Har Mahadev! Jai Mata Di!

Victory to Mahashakti Maa Shaptrashringi

Eight-armed Mata Shaptashringi is the combined manifestation of Mata Mahalakshmi, Mata Mahakali, and Mata Mahasaraswati. After the great Goddess killed the demons Shumbha, Nishumbha and Mahishasur, the great Devi undertook sadhana on this spot which is surrounded by Sapta Shringa or Seven Peaks, which is the reason the Goddess is called by this name.

The ancient temple is located less than 70 km from Nashik and is well connected by road. The Goddess has manifested her image of her own will. In other words the Goddess's idol is swayambhu and is therefore considered to be very powerful.

While pilgrims visit the shaktipeeth through the year, the temple is visited particularly visited during the Navratras or nine nights sacred to the Goddess when a fair is held at the temple.
