The Significance of Thursday

On Thursday or Guruvars, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brihaspati, the guru of Gods are worshiped  Devotees listen to devotional bhajans and songs dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Devotees wear yellow clothes and meals with the color yellow are preferred. Fasting is observed throughout the day. It is also known as the Guruvar Vrat. In some regions in India, devotees offer banana or plantain to the Lord.

According to the Hindu rituals, it is believed that devotees who fast on Thursdays are blessed with wealth and a happy life.

It is a religious gathering at Radhe Maa Bhavan, organised to worship Maa Jagdambe. Lord Shiva and other deities are honored with prayers and bhajans. It involves ritual worship (puja), bhajan (singing of devotional hymns), prasad (grace in the form of a gift from Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa) and langer (communal meal) followed by darshan of Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa.

Glory of Durga Ashtami

Durgashtami fasting is observed every month during Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha. On this day devotees of Goddess Durga worship Her and observe day long fast. 

The most significant Durgashtami, which is known as Mahashtami, falls in month of Ashwin during nine days Shardiya Navratri festivities. 

Durgashtami is also spelled as Durga Ashtami and Masik Durgashtami is also known as Maas Durgashtami or Monthly Durgashtami.

It is thanks to good deeds in the past that one gets the service of the guru. However, the best doctor cannot treat you if you do not take the medicine. Bitter or sweet, how will you cure yourself of this fever of maya, if you do not take the medicine. Follow the guru's instructions and act on it. This is the only way out.
