Why Maa's Tara's son Bamakhepa moved around naked

Tara Devi

Baba Bamakhepa (1837–1911), the great tantric master and devotee of Maa Tara would move around naked in the smashan where he worshipped Maa Tara. When he was asked why he moved around naked the great saint said, "My father (Shiva) is naked; my Mother (Maa Tara) is also naked. So I am practicing that. I have no shame and no fear.''

May the example of Bamakhepa, guide us to the lotus feet of Maa Tara whose is the star that guides seekers to liberation!

Bamakhepa Maharaj ki Jai! Jai Maa Tara!

Shri Radhe Maa - Mata Tara and her Mad son Bama Khepa

Tara Devi

The great son of Maa Tara, Bama Khepa (1837–1911), who was considered mad by many ate leftover food with dogs and jackals from the same leaf. He would also eat food that was meant to be offered to Maa Tara. The Brahmins of the temple, which was owned privately, were furious.

Bama Khepa was attacked. He was threatened and barred from entering the temple. "Maa Tara asks me to have the food in this manner," said Bama Khepa. A few days later, the owner of the temple had a dream. He saw Maa Tara, hear face filled with bruises, leaving the temple for Kailash in the Himalayas. "I have taken my mad son's blows on my face. You do not let my son eat, so I have decided that I will not eat anything offered here. How can a mother eat before feeding her child? You must let my son eat before you offer anything to me, or I shall leave this place," said Maa Tara.

Bama Khepa was made the priest of the temple and no one stopped him from eating food meant to be offered to the Goddess from that time.

May Maa Tara, the guiding star to all beings and mother of Bama Khepa, bless all her children with liberation!

Shri Radhe Maa - Saint who lived in the Samshaan

Bamakhepa (1837-1911), Ma Tara's beloved son, who was also known as the 'mad saint' lived near the Tarapith temple in Birbhum district of West Bengal and was often found meditating in the smashan bhoomi. People thought him mad because he behaved in strange ways. He was once beaten up by the temple pujaris when he ate the offering meant for the Devi. That night, Maa Tara appeared in the dream of Maharani of Natore. "Feed my son before you feed me." she ordered.

Thereafter, Bamakhepa, the great tantric master, was always fed before the Devi.

May Sri Bamakhepa, the apple of Maa Tara's eyes, bless us with devotion to her feet.
