Shri Radhe Maa - Jai Bolo Mata Surkanda Bhavani ki!

Maa Bhavani

Surkanda Devi rules the hearts of her children from her shakti peeth situated in the Dhanaulti hill station of Tehri district of Garhwal, Uttarakhand. This is believed to be the spot that received Mata Sati's head as Lord Shiva danced with her corpse on the earth. The temple is one of the most revered among the Pahadi Hindus of this area who assemble in their thousands in May/June to pay their respects to this manifestation of the Divine Mother.

May Devi Surkanda, the empress of the Universe, bless us all with the strength to bear our burdens! Jai Mata Surkanda!

Shivaji Maharaj's Beloved Goddess Bhavani of Tuljapur

Tulja Bhavani Temple is located at Tuljapur in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra. It is one of the Adya 51 Shakti Pithas or sites holy to worshipers of the Goddess in the Hindu tradition.

Tuljapur Bhavani is the kuladevi of the Bhosale Royal family that traces its lineage back of Shivaji Maharaj, the man whose sword paved the way for the decline of the Maratha empire.

Legend has it that Shivaji Maharaj's sword was given to him by the Goddess herself, and is therefore known as the Bhavani sword.

May Mother Tulja Bhavani bless us all with courage, confidence and abundance! Jai Mata Di! Har Har Mahadev!

Singing Hari Naam in Mauritius

The ancestors of Maratha citizens of Mauritius left Indian shores over one and a half century ago but continue to honor their love for Hinduism, Shivaji Maharaj and Maharashtra. There are several Bhavani temples in Mauritius.

Not surprisingly, the Mauritian Hindus have not forgotten the beautiful abhangas of the Warkari Sampradaya of Maharashtra that is devoted to Lord Vitthala Krishna of Pandharpur.

In the video given below, these Marathis of Marathai Cultural Centre Bhavanai Mandir of Mauritius sing Sant Dnyaneshwar's celebrated abhanga Roopa Pahata Lochani.

Click here to watch a video of the abhanga being sung by the members of the Marathi Cultural Centre of Mauritius http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WRCYvzHWQk
