When Hanumanji defeated Aurangazeb

Karmanghat Hanuman
The eight-centuries old Karmanghat Hanuman temple in the Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh attracts thousands of devotees everyday. Local belief has it that after conquering Golconda, Aurangzeb came down to destroy this temple but could not enter as he was stopped by an irresistible force too could not enter the temple and he heard a voice that said “If you want to enter this temple, make your heart stronger(Karo-man-ghat)”. Thus the place came to be called Karmanghat.

May Lord Karmanghat protect us all!

Did you know? - Jai Bajrangbali Pakistanwaale

Hindus in Pakistan have reason to cheer. The 1,500-year-old Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Karachi is all set for renovation. The temple which is in at the heart of the city of Karachi that was once a predominantly Hindu city hosts a special swayambhu idol of Lord Hanuman.

The idol is eight-foot tall and blue and white in color. The five faces in the idol manifest the faces of Lord Hanuman, Lord Narasimha, Lord Adivaraha, Lord Hayagriva, and Lord Garuda in one idol.

Swayambhu idols are significant because they are not man-made but tend to manifest on their own in order to bless devotees and are therefore considered to be especially powerful. Swayambhu idols do not require praan-pratishtaan like manmade idols.

The land belonging to the temple has been grabbed by encroachers and the local Hindus are trying hard to vacate the plot under the leadership of the Shri Ramnath Maharaj, the caretaker of the temple.

May Lord Panchmukhi Hanuman of Karachi bless us all! .

Did you know? - Lord Hanuman in West Indies

The world’s biggest idol of Lord Hanuman outside India is at Carapichaima in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies.

An 85-foot Karya Siddhi Hanuman statue was consecrated at Carapichaima in Trinidad and Tobago by Ganapathy Sachchidananda, the mathadheesh of Avadhoota Dattapeetham, India.

Karya Siddhi Hanumanji’s idol is the second tallest in the world.

May Lord Karyasiddhi Hanumanji destroy all our demons outside and within us and fill us with a desire to serve Lord Rama, the refuge of all.

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 11 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Sai Baba

I have become all this. Ant, fly, prince, and pauper, it is all my form in all these forms.

When all the veils between God and man are erased, the soul faces God and the mystics say it is like staring in a mirror because all souls are actually one substance, one light and that light is God Himself.

Says Kabir, Jaise til mein tel hai/ Jyon chakmak mein aag/ Tera Sai tujh mein hai/ Jaag sake toh jaag (Just as the seed holds oil in its heart/ Just as the flint stone carries fire/ Your Sai is in you/ Awaken to this truth if you can.

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 10 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Sai Baba

Do what is good because it is by living a moral life that you will reach your God. - Sai Baba

Dharma cannot be practiced by those who succumb to the call of their five senses. Training the five senses enables to do what is right in every situation. He who leads an immoral life dissipates his energies and becomes a slave to his senses.

Only those who practice morality in thought, word, and deed reach God. The rest are doomed to the never-ending cycle of birth and death.

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 9 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Sai Baba

Hatred is something to be ashamed of. Quit hatred and take refuge in silence.
He who hates someone as the other divorces himself from the truth – it is the great Sai (God) who has become all beings. He who hates cuts himself from the rhythm of life which connects all beings in the Universe.

One may of course fight for dharma and eschew adharma but it is important that all our anger should be directed towards the sin and not the hater. Such behaviour is only possible for elevated souls who have surrendered to God and Sadguru.

Mahatma Gandhi also preached that it is the sin that we should hate and not the sinner.

Did you know? - Tulasi Vivah

Tulasi Vivah 2013

Tulasi means the 'one who cannot be compared' in Sanskrit and is so called also because of its spiritual, medical and religious significance. Raam Tulasi has big light green, while Shyama Tualasi has small dark green leaves. According to Ayurveda eating of Tulasi leaves on a regular basis balances the entire bodily system and also gives longevity.

Tulsi Vivah story

This is perhaps the most sentimental but not the least important festival which falls on the 11th day of the bright half of Kartik.  This story from padma Puram revolves round Tulsi, the plant Ocimum Sanctum which in her former birth was Vrinda, the daughter of a giant named Nemi, and the faithful wife of demon Jalandhar. Being born in water Jalandhar claims sovereignty over the ocean and demands the 14 treasures churned out of the ocean in Vishnu's second incarnation.  He declares war and becomes a cause of danger to the gods. More so because of a boon that he would be free drom death till his wife Vrinda was chaste.  As a last resort to kill Jalandhar, Vishnu beguiles Vrinda by assuming her husband's form. Vrinda in her wrath cruses and turns Lord Vishnu into a Black stone (Salagram) for his deceit.  Vishnu too retaliates but in admiration of her impeachable chastity and piety, he transfers her into the sacred Tulsi plant and promises to marry her annually on this day of Kartik. The origin of the ammonite black stone or Salagram found on the bed of the river Gandaki may be attributed to their legend.

As a consequence, all devout Hindu women worship the Tulsi plant with flowers and milk assuming Lord Krishna to be present on it on this auspicious day.  Literally a mock marriage is performed between the Tulsi and the Salagram.  The belief is that one who performs this ceremony of giving away Tulsi considering them to be one's own daughters, gets the credit as making a Kanyadan which is regarded as an extremely meritorious act in pur religion.  This sacred ceremonial day marks the auspicious opening of the annual marriage season of the Hindus.
