The sampradaya is Shaiva - they worship Lord Shiva.
The sage looked into the youngsters eyes. As the youngster bent to touch the Master's feet, the master slapped his back hard! The slap was the youngster's initiation into Sanyasa!
"This sound will be heard in America! Now go ‘round the world and roar like a lion. You will build palaces (temples) and feed thousands," said Yogaswami.
The youngster became the famous yogi, author, temple-builder and staunch defender of Hinduism - Sadguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami! sadguru has written over 30 books on different aspects of Shaivaism, built Shiva temples in the traditional South Indian style all over the world and also encouraged people across the world to enter the Hindu tradition.
He has written the the most comprehensive book on entering the Hindu faith titled "How to be a Hindu". Sadguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami left his body on November 12, 2001.
May Lord Sadashiva, the cause of all causes in this universe, guide us towards the path of dharma! Om Namah Shivai!
