Mata Mahalasa |
Mata
Mahalasa is the Mohini swaroop of Lord Vishnu who took that form to
kill the demon Bhasmasur. Lord Vishnu became Mohini, the bewitching
beauty. Such was Mohini's allure that Lord Shiva himself fell in love
with Mohini knowing fully well that it was Lord Vishnu who had assumed
the form.
There are
several Mahalasa temples in Maharashtra as she is worshiped as Lord
Khandoba's first wife in all his temples and is present in the popular
Jejuri temple as well.
May Lord Khandoba and Mata Mahalasa fill our lives with health, abundance and happiness. Jai Mahalasa! Jai Malhar!
