Albela
Hanuman has been worshiped in Wadala, a suburb for the last 150 years
since he manifested himself in a swayambhu form. The king who discovered
the swayambhu idol decided to move the idol to a better location.
The idol could not be moved an inch and the statue
stayed where it was. The king accepted the miracle as God;s wish and
built a temple for the idol at the spot. As Lord Hanuman expressed his
stubborn side in his leela, he came to be known as Albela Hanumān. The
idol has a broad base that is adorned with images of other devatās like
Lord Ganapati. The idol is completely covered with sindur. The Lord’s
mouth is black and he sports a mustache.
May Lord Albela Hanuman of Vadala Mumbai bless us
with unshakable firmness in the face of life's challenges. Ram das
Hanuman ji ki jai!
