Touching story of West Indian Hanuman Bhakta Siewadass Sadhu

Siewadass Sadhu gave 25 years to build this stunningly beautiful Hanuman temple called the Temple in the Sea in the sea Waterloo, Trinidad, West Indies. While coming from India Siewadass narrowly escaped German torpedoes and decided to than Lord Hanuman - his Ishta devata by building a temple for him.

Siewadass's repeated attempts to build a temple where defeated because he did not own land and the owners of the huge plantation where he worked refused to let him construct a Hindu temple. Finally, Seiwadass decided to build an island in the open sea where he would build his temple.

He spend 25 years carting rocks on his head and build the island rock by rock and began building the temple in 1947. However, he died in 1971 before he could see the temple become a reality. In 1994, the government of Trinidad honored Siewadass Sadhu's committment by building the temple which is major attraction for devotees today.

May the Ishta Devata of Siewadass Sadhu Lord Hanuman ji of Waterloo protect us all!
