In days of yore, the Supreme Goddess appeared before a herder of cows and he sought the greatest wealth of all, and the Goddess granted him liberation from the cycles of birth and death.
Thus did Mata Jeev (life) Dani (bestower of) get her name. May Mata Jeevdani the granter of all purusharthas grant us the supreme gift, devotion to her lotus feet.
