The Sadhu, the woman who wished to seduce him and the power of Krishna's name

Namacharya Haridasa Thakura, a great teacher in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, was born in a Mulsim Pathan family in the 16th Century but his heart turned to Lord Krishna when he beheld the golden form of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna as well as Shrimati Radhe Rani.

The ruler of the land Ramchandra Khan who was unhappy with Haridasa Thakura's preaching of of the holy name sent a courtesan to seduce the saint.

The woman who was exceptionally beautiful approached Haridasa Thakura. She praised him and told him that he was so beautiful that she desired him. Haridasa Thakura said he had his chanting to finish. If she waited long enough he would fulfill his desire. But the night passed and Haridasa Thaura was still chanting the holy names of Lord Krishna.

The courtesan left as the son rose only to return in the evening, and the same story was repeated again. Days passed and yet nothing changed. The courtesan stuck to her resolve and Haridasa kept chanting the holy name, and occasionally the courtesan also joined him and chanted Hari-Hari.

One day, sudden remorse overtook the courtesan. He heart had changed due to the company of Haridasa Thakura. She fell at his feet and sought his forgiveness. Haridasa revealed that he knew about Ramachandra Khan's plot, and graciously accepted her as a disciple and initiated her into the chanting of Lord Krishna's name.

The woman became a pure devotee and worked her way to Lord Krishna's feet!

May this leela of Srila Haridasa Thakura, who was among the most exalted devotees of Lord Krishna, lead us to the service of Shrimati Radharani who is beloved of Lord Krishna, the supreme purusha!

Jai Shrimati Radharani! Jai Shri Krishna! Jai Bhaktaraj Haridasa Thakura!
