A temple where Draupadi Mata is worshiped as Shakti

Draupadi

Hindu Shastras recognise Draupadi as one of the five pure women who deserve our reverence. It is believed that he who chants Draupadi's name along those of Ahilya, Sita, Tara and Mandodari (Ravana's wife) attains to liberation.

There are several temples in South India where Draupadi, the wife of the five Pandava brothers is worshipped. One such temple believed to be 300 years old is worshiped by people of Serugalathur and surrounding villages in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu.

Draupadi Mata is worshipped in the temple as a manifestation of Shakti - the Supreme Feminine that expresses itself through all names and forms and is beyond them.

May Mata Draupadi
of Serugalathur bless all her devotees with health, prosperity and happiness! Jai Mata Draupadi! Jai Yogeshwar Shri Krishna ki!
