Jai Eklingji, the protector of Maharana Pratap of Mewar

Ekling

Ekling ji is Lord Shiva, the ishta devata of the brave Maharanas of Mewar that included names like Maharaha Pratap and his glorious ancestor Bappa Rawal - the man who chased Mohammed Bin Qasim back to Arabia and captured several lands that had been captured by the Islamic attacker.

This temple is part of a complex that has 108 other temples. It is located near Udaipur in Rajasthan. Lord Ekling ji has four faces and his idol is fashioned out of black marble. The Maharanas of Mewar considered themselves as dewans or custodians of Mewar, and maintained that it was Lord Ekling ji who is the real owner of Mewad.
