Jai Hari Vitthal! Sant Janabai Mata ki Jai!

Sant Janabai was a devotee of Lord Shri Krishna as Panduranga the presiding deity of Pandharpur who stands there in all his glory with mother Rukmini devi. Janabai worshiped Panduranga as her mother and addressed Shri Krishna as mauli or mother. This great saint was born in a humble family that came from people lowest in the Hindu caste hierachy but her character, nobility and devotion to the feet of Lord Vitthala have made her worthy of emulation and worship among all Hindus of the Warkari Vaishnava Sampradaya.

Janabai was the maid of Sant Namdev and also accepted him as her spiritual master.

Janabai sings "Even if I am take many births in this world, O lord please fulfill my wish to be in Pandharpur. May I be here and serve my guru Namdev in every birth. I dont mind being a bird, a swine, a dog or even a cat, as long as these two conditions are met. Let me behold Pandharpur with my eyes and let me serve Namdev." Such is the ambition of Namdev's maid.

May Janabai's example inspire love in our hearts for our Guru Maa Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa who reveals to us the secrets of serving Hari the lord of the universe. Jai Jai Rama Krishna Hari!
