The Hindu calendar and its significance

The Hindu calendar is most commonly known as “Panchang” or “Panjika” and it is based on the movements of the moon.

It is considered as an important part in the life of a Hindu. It consists of auspicious dates, times and information about various Hindu festivals.

Reference to the Panchang calendar is found in Rig Veda dated back to the 2nd millennium BC.
