Mentorship & the legend of Hanuman and Jambawan

Hanuman, is present in us as the mind. The mind is indeed pawan-putra as it moves at a speed faster than the wind. When it is untrained and unrestrained it can plunge the world into darkness. This is the child Hanuman swallowing the sun. Nature therefore keeps the mind from realising its true potential.

Hanuman thought he did not have the powers to jump across the ocean and reach Lanka where Mata Sita was imprisoned. He had forgotten his powers as a child until Jambawan the bear reminded him.

Jambawan is the mentor who holds the mirror to the greatness of our selves. The mentor is the one who awakens the mind to its true potential. Blessed is he who gets good mentors. Blessed is the one who mentors others.

May Lord Hanuman, the divine intelligence yoked to the feet of Lord Rama, bless us all with viveka. Jai Hanuman ki! Jai Shri Rama

Shri Radhe Maa - Jagattarini Bahucharaji Mata ki Jai!

Bahuchara Mata

Bahuchara Mata, was the daughter of a charan Bapal dan Detha of Saurashtra. The Charans are a poet-warrior community whose women are regarded as living manifestations of the Mother Goddess.

They have also traditionally fought on the front-lines of battle along with the Rajputs.

Bhauchar Mata was on a journey with her sisters when their group was attacked by a dacoit named Bapiya. There was a long standing tradition among Charans. They would rather kill themselves than surrended. Bhauchar Mata and her sisters cut off their breasts before life seeped out of them. But before she died, Bhauchar Mata cursed Bapiya who became impotent.

The curse was only lifted when Bapiya who used his masculinity to attack women dressed himself as a woman and repented for his sin.

Bahuchara Mata is the protector of the transsexual Hijra community. Her most popular temple is situated in Bahucharaji town of Mehsana district, Gujarat. Lakhs of devotees attest to the wonderful powers of Bhauchar Mata.

May Mata Bhaucharji bless all her devotees with respect for divinity present in all as feminity! Jai Mata Ji!

God is possible anywhere - the message of Narasimha avtaar

Narasimha

Bhakta Prahalad is symbolic of the innocence of the bhakta within all of us. Where the bhakta turns, he or she witnesses divinity. Hiranyakhashipu, the demon thought that Narayana who was to spell his end would not manifest because he was granted the boon that he would die neither of man nor of beast, neither during day not in the night and neither indoors nor outdoors. He had expected that the boon would protect him from his sins.

However, God transcends all limitations and conditions because he is a sea of possibilities. It is true that God is neither this nor that. It is equally true that he is this as well as that and everything else.

All situations are Narasimha-garbha. All places are Narasimha-Grabha. All times are Narasimha-garbha. They hold Lord Narasimha like a womb holds a child. Never despair. Be confident that when you call upon him, He will come. No danger is bigger than the Lord of Prahlad.

Shri Narasimha Bhagvan ki jai! Bhaktaraj Prahlad Maharaj ki jay!

Shiva and the legend of Kirtimukha

Kirtimukha

Once, when a demon threatened the end of the world, Lord Shiva opened his third eye and the hungry monster Jalandhara came into existence. He was ravenously hungry. Before Lord Shiva could order Jalandhara to attack the demon, the terrified demon fell at Shiva's feet.

Lord Shiva, being compassion itself, forgave the demon and asked the monster  Jalandhara to not attack him. "O lord," said Jalandhara, "you have created me hungry. I cannot control myself. I have to eat something. What shall I eat, if not this demon?"

The Lord smiled and said, "Eat yourself starting from the tail and work your way upwards."

Jalandhara obeyed and began eating himself till all that was left was his face. Lord Shiva then declared that Jalandhara would henceforth be known as Kirtimukha and he would grace the entrance of every garbagriha of a temple dedicated to Shiva.

Have you seen the demon's face with bulging eyes, huge teeth and ferocious mouth? That is kirti mukha who represents the nature of human desire. It is never fulfilled unless Lord Shiva's grace descends upon us. Then the desire eats and ends itself till very little of the self is left. Then, only then, is one suitable to enter the service of the Lord.

May Lord Shiva, whose body white as the jasmine flower, inspires wonder in  all beings in all the world, bless us with a desire for liberation.

Har Har Mahadev!

Jai Mata Modheswari, ishta devi of Shri Narendra Modi!

Mata Parvati

When the Demon Karnat spread havoc among devotees by disturbing their pujas and anushtans, they sought refuge of Mata Parvati who became very angry. She opened her mouth which began to spout fire.

Mata Modeshwari is said to be Mata Matangi, one of the great Dasa Mahavidyas of tantra, and the daughter of Rishi Matanga.

This aggressive form of the Goddess in her aspect as the protector of devotees, gave her the name Modheshwari, which means "One who spouts fire from the mouth". Her name is synomynous with with the Modheshwar region now known as Modhera. Mr Modi's family hails from this region. Her devotees are known as Modhs, which is where Mr Modi gets his family name from. He was, in fact, born near the Modheshwari temple in Vadnagar, where his forefathers have lived for generations. Her temples are also found in Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Jhabua, Khedbrahma, Sinhore, Tera, Ujjain and Vadodara.

The goddess has nine pairs of arms. Each arm has a weapon.

May Mata Modheshwari bless all who desire to serve the nation with strength, wisdom, courage and discrimination. May her trishul, khadaga, sword, kamandala, shankha, gada, pash, danda and damaru bless
all her devotees!

Jai Maa Modheshwari! Jai Mata Di!

Bhavishya Badri and the end of Kali Yuga

Lord  Bhavishya Badri

Lord Bhavishya Badri is manifesting himself on a rock and will manifest himself completely when Kaliyuga comes to an end.

Located in the village called Subhain, 17 kilometres from Joshimath in the Gadhwal Himalayas. For darshan of Lord Bhavishya Badri one has to trek beyond Tapovan on foot through a dense forest by the Dhauli Ganga river.

Legend has it that when the evil peaks in the Kaliyuga, the Nara and Narayana mountains would close the route to Lord Badrinath who would become accessible to his devotees.

The world as we know it would be destroyed. A new world would come into existence. This is when Lord Badrinath would appear in all his glory and would be the new Badrinath shrine for all devotees.

The lord is therefore known to all as Bhavishya Badri, and the Lord would be worshiped here, instead of the Badrinath shrine.

Legend of Lord Ugra Narasimha of Joshimath

Lord Narasimha

Lord Narasimha of Joshimath, Uttarakhand, is widely known to a a fierce deity who had come to the rescue of his devotee Bhagvadpad Adi Shankaracharya.

Lord Narasimha's image is seated in Padmasana and is considered by many to be self manifested or swayambhu. It is made of Shaligram stone, which is found in the Gandaki river of Nepal and worshiped by Vaishnavas across India as a manifestation of Lord Vishnu.

The Lord's right arm has become very thin and is expected to break in future. The breaking of the arm would be a sign of the end of the ongoing dark age or Kali Yuga after which pralaya or destruction of the world would take place and Satya Yuga would begin.
May Lord Narasimha, the refuge of Prahlad and Adi Shankara grant us the refuge of his lotus feet!

Shri Radhe Maa - Jai Adi Badri Narayana

Badrinath

Lord Adi Badri Vishnu awaits his devotees in his ancient temple near Karnaprayag, Uttarakhand. The old temple holds a 3 feet image of Lord Vishnu made of black stone. The lord holds his gada, lotus and sudarshan chakra.

While the temple is an important tirtha sthana both for local Hindus as well as those who come every year for the char dham yatra, the hereditary Brahmins of the temple are from South India.
The right to priesthood at these temples is given to Brahmins of the south by Adi Shankarachrya, who is considered to be an  avatar of Lord Shiva himself.
May Lord Adi Badri Narayana bless us with intelligence, compassion and love for all beings! Jai Adi  Badri Maharaj ki!
