Shri Radhe Guru Maa - Diwali Festival special - Tibetan Diwali

The Lamp Festival of Jiuzhaigou, China, or the Butter Lamp Festival marks the passing of Tsongkhapa, a great Buddhist reformer and monk of Tibetan origin. On this day, every temple dedicated to the Tsongkhapa's sect and every villager chants sacred sutras.

Devotees place lamps at the altar of Lord Buddha and outside the monastery. Devotees wear their best clothes, have horse riding competitions and participate in a ceremony where they offer flags printed with lions, tigers and dragons to the sky, dance, and drink.

Diwali Festival special - Do the Jews celebrate Diwali?

Jews celebrate a festival of lights like our very own Diwali. Jews celebrate Hanukkah, also known as Festival of Lights and Feast of Dedication. Hanukkah is an eight-day holiday, which marks the re-dedication of a Jewish temple in 2nd century BC. A special lamp called the menorah is lighted on Hanukkah.

The candles on the menorah are lit one a day so that on the eighth day all candles are lit.

Special fried foods and bakery favorites like donuts filled with chocolate, cream, jam and vanilla are made on Hanukkah  that are a big hit with children.

The seven-branched menorah is among the most recognized symbols of Judaism.

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 4 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Why fear when I am here? - Sai Baba

The Hindu scriptures say fear comes from the sense of separation, of duality, of the feeling that the ‘self’ is separate from the ‘other’. However, Sai, the fakir of Shirdi points to the great ‘Sai’ who is God/Master is not someone who is outside us. He is not only within us. He is us. If we are indeed THAT SatChidAndanda swaroop. What do we have to fear?

This attitude of oneness born of correct understanding gives rise to faith that no matter where we are and what we face, Ishwar who is the all-pervading Satchidananda, the Sai in us, will always be there to protect us. Why then should we fear?

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 3 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Be firmly by my side in faith, and stay calm. I will do the rest.
                                                                     - Sai Baba

After one is convinced of the greatness of the Guru, one should not allow doubts to attack the mind. Because all one needs to do in times of danger is to remember the names of the Lord and the glory of the Guru, and the God acts through the Guru and rescues his devotees.

Nothing great can be accomplished by those who do not place their faith in something bigger than themselves. If we only believe the ordinary to be possible, how will something unimaginably impossible ever happen to us. Therefore, even if one has a Sadhguru like Sai who has the power to guide us out of darkness, if we let go of his Kafni, how will we ever find our way out. Faith, says the Lord of Das Ganu, is the beginning of all solutions. Trust in the Sadguru. He will help. That is his promise. May Sai guide us all.

Om Sai Ram!

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Part 2 - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

I am the daas of my devotees.- Sai Baba

Bhakti is the art of being such a perfect servant that God/Guru becomes a slave of the devotee. Krishna served Sudama, as Vitthal he became Vithu Mahar to pay the debt of Damaji, the storekeeper to a Muslim King, and paid the hundi (bill of exchange) drawn by Narsi Mehta. The Lord is indeed Bhakta Vatasal!

Ras Khan, the medieval Muslim devotee of Krishna, extols the ways of the Krishna, whose glory is praised by all the Gods, Demi-Gods and beings of the universe. “That Krishna, says, Ras Khan, “Dances to please the Gopis of Vrindavan.” The Lord is tied by the ropes of love to his devotees. He is the Lord of all there is and he is slave of the bhakta who calls upon him with true love. How can the SadGuru, who is but God incarnated in flesh, be any different? He is indeed the slave of all who fall at his feet.

May Sai, the kaivari of Shirdi, bless us all! Om Sai Ram!

Sai Baba Vachan Amrit - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Sai Baba

There is only one Sadhana,

and that is placing entire, whole, perfect trust in the Guru.
                                      - Sai Baba

Without trust, there is no surrender. Without surrender, there is no kripa, and without kripa, there is no spiritual growth.

However, trust in the Guru is not for the fearful, who care for the ways of the world, which changes its opinion at every turn. The world despite its attractions is temporary. The Guru is forever. He guides from darkness to light in this life and sometimes in the lives that follow. He is the lamp, the shield, the umbrella, the mother, the teacher and holder of the key to liberation from samsara – the endless cycle of life and death.

Faith in the teacher leads to receptivity of what the Guru has to offer. The receptivity leads to imbibing of right knowledge and right attitude, which engenders right action, which ultimately leads to liberation. It all begins with faith in the Guru, says the fakir of Dwarka Mai.

Om Sai Ram!

Greatness of Sanskrit - Mamtamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust

Om

Greatness of Sanskrit

Sri Aurobindo

Sanskrit language, as has been universally recognized by those competent to form a judgment, is one of the most magnificent, the most perfect, the most prominent and wonderfully sufficient literary instrument developed by the human mind.

 -    Sri Aurobindo, political leader, philosopher, Vedic scholar and yogi

Bapu on why Sanskrit matters

Without the study of Sanskrit one cannot become a true Indian and a true learned man.

- Mahatma Gandhi

Watch a foreigner speak fluent Sanskrit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvI_yTVdSeQ

Nehru on Sanskrit

If I was asked what is the greatest treasure which India possesses and what is her finest heritage, I would answer unhesitatingly that it is the Sanskrit language and literature and all that it contains. This is a magnificent inheritance and so long as this endures and influences the life of our people, so long will the basic genius of India continue. If our race forgot the Buddha, the Upanishads and the great epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata), India would cease to be India ."

- Jawaharlal Nehru
